Cardboard Boxes

Why choose Cardboard Packaging?

Why choose Cardboard Packaging?

We speak of cardboard as the future of food packaging. With a good price-performance ratio, cardboard is about to dethrone plastic, a more harmful packaging for the environment. With laws and government policies to reduce single-use plastic, the food industry is naturally turning to alternative and more sustainable packaging, including paper and cardboard.

The advantages of cardboard are undeniable. Its lightness and malleability allow it to be transformed into food containers of all sizes and capacities that can transport a wide variety of dishes throughout the day. Salad Bowls, Pastry Boxes, Triangle Sandwich Boxes, Pizza Boxes, Burger Boxes, Soup Pots, Sushi Bowls, Cups and Bowls.

Cardboard Packaging Available for All Menus!

Food cardboard has a good environmental image because it is made up of renewable raw materials (wood), unlike plastic, which is recyclable and compostable. One box can be recycled multiple times, so fewer raw materials are used. Even dirty, your pizza boxes end up in the sorting bin today.

The main problem with food cartons is their porosity. Worried about moisture and grease getting in and contaminating your packaging? Note that you can now purchase cardboard containers covered with a thin layer of paraffin wax that will resist grease build-up. Cardboard can also be combined with polyethene or aluminium for even tighter and completely airtight food packaging.

Is cardboard packaging expensive?

Cardboard is slightly more expensive than plastic in the same container but cheaper than alternative materials such as bamboo, sugar cane fibres, or cornstarch. It’s great value for money, and using cardboard can also give you a competitive advantage over customers who are increasingly concerned about the environmental footprint of their food packaging.

A menu completely wrapped in a cardboard tray with bamboo cutlery, cellulose napkins and a kraft paper bag look much better than a menu wrapped in a plastic tray with plastic cutlery and a plastic bag.

What is existing carton packaging?

Food cartons can be used in various ways and are equally suitable for the transport of hot, cold or liquid substances. But first, a little point about the difference between “Kraft” and cardboard, which is often confused.

Kraft paper is a very strong variety of paper, usually between 25 and 180 g / m2. So we are talking about Kraft paper bags or Kraft paper envelopes. The Swedish word Kraft means “strength”! Don’t underestimate the power; it can be used to line bags up to 50 kg for cement or plaster.

Note that the word “power” is also used to denote the colour of the packaging when it is brown.

  • Cups

Thick paper cups, which are covered on the inside with a PE (polyethene) or PLA (vegetable coating) film, can contain hot or cold drinks. Paper cups of different diameters, brown or white, are ideal for coffee, tea, chocolate. If the paper cups have a 100% vegetable water-repellent inner coating (type PLA, such as corn starch), they are biodegradable and compostable.

To facilitate the transport of beverages, the paper cups can be sold with opaque cardboard lids.

  • Trays

Square, rectangular, round, oval… The trays and pans are ideal for menus such as salads, pasta, fresh products, cold cuts, cheeses, soups, ice cream, desserts, popcorn… The trays can be covered inside with a waterproof film, either in polyethene or in plants. The material, in this case, the shell, is easily recyclable. They can be closed with plastic or cardboard lids.

  • The boxes

The food box is the indispensable packaging. It is resistant and easy to store to accommodate and preserve any type of food.

Pizza boxes, pasta boxes, hamburger and wrap boxes, pastry boxes, log boxes, triangular sandwich boxes, insulated boxes, transport boxes… Choose them according to the intended use: resealable, with window, with handles, in the form of briefcases … It’s up to you!

Window View Meal Boxes have the advantage of highlighting your preparations. Fresh boxes, for example, have a side window that allows an optimal view of the product even when it is stacked. Convenient for customers to choose their daily menus and save time at the same time!

The easily customizable box is a great way to showcase your brand. More expensive bamboo and bagasse boxes are being developed more and more: robust and ecological; they are biodegradable.

Buying food containers: the 4 rules to remember.

 • Food packaging must protect the product from the outside.

 • Food packaging must convey your brand values.

 • Food packaging must be extremely practical for the customer (easy opening and closing).

 • The food packaging must be adapted to the tasting mode: oven, microwave, freezer, etc. Check that the packaging of your food is suitable for your menus.
